Garlic Sesame Rice Noodles
This gluten free Garlic Sesame Rice Noodles recipe is on the table in under 30 minutes. Make it for dinner or for a quick, tasty lunch.
Who loves easy recipes? I sure do. Not that I dislike complex recipes but working full-time Monday through Friday sometimes results in my not feeling up to cooking an elaborate meal during the week. When I can find a quick, easy delicious recipe that’s still basically made from scratch, I usually try it. When I found a recipe for Garlic Noodles on Budget Bytes, I figured I would give it a try. It seemed easy enough to prepare; the recipe stated that it only took a total of 15 minutes from preparation to plate. The only difference I made between the recipe on Budget Bytes and my recipe was that I used Cilantro in my recipe and replaced angel hair pasta with rice sticks (rice vermicelli noodles.)
The recipe was quite delicious. It’s definitely something I will make again as both my boyfriend and I enjoyed it. I hope you enjoy it too!
Garlic Sesame Rice Noodles
In a large pot, melt the butter and saute the green onions and garlic until tender. Set aside. Combine the oyster sauce, sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil and then add to the garlic/onion mixture in the pot. Add the rice noodles and mix well. Serve in bowls and top with sesame seeds and chopped cilantro. Adapted from Budget BytesRecipe: Garlic Sesame Rice Noodles

Is there anything I could substitute for the oyster sauce? I have everything but that and can’t make it to the store.
Hi Darla,
You could use fish sauce, hoisin sauce or more soy sauce. I hope this helps! :)
Do the noodles soften as they cook or is there a prep that has to be done to them?
Hello,
They soften as they cook.
Hi! Thanks for posting! I’m in the process of making this and am not sure where the 4tbsp of butter goes. Is that what you use to sauté the onion and garlic?
I was wondering the same thing!
Just made this and doubled the recipe-came out so good. I didn’t have the oyster sauce but I did substitute it with fish sauce and it came out just great!
For anyone who needs a 100% gluten free diet, substitute tamari for soy sauce. Soy sauce is not gluten free.
I am going to make this for a side dish for dinner tonight, but I do need to say that the majority of oyster sauces are NOT gluten free. Author, it is very misleading that you state that these are gluten-free.
Hi, there are many gluten free oyster sauces out there. If you cannot find them at your local store, try Amazon. I hope you enjoyed the recipe.
Where does the butter go? Otherwise delicious!
It goes in with the veggies during step 1. I updated the recipe. Apologies for the error.
Has anyone done any noodle prep they prefer over adding the dry noodle and wait for it to soften??
Hi, you can precook the noodles according to package instructions, then toss everything with the cooked noodles. Hope this helps!
I don’t like oyster sauce, can I replace?
Yes, you can use hoisin sauce instead.
My God amazing….only thing was I got no photo cause it disappeared so fast
Very yummy recipe. The sauce in particular was very good. Definitely added to my favorites!
